I found a website that had good information on how to do it.
http://www.soundonsound.com/sos/dec03/articles/cubasenotes.htm
What I wanted to do was record reason to cubase and export it as a wav file from cubase. To do this I just clicked on File> Export> Audio Mixdown...
Here is how I set mine up. I use Reason 3.0 as a sound module along with my MPC. I set it up so that when I play my MPC it hears the sound from the MPC, and it will sync with the sound from Reason. Both sounds are seperate. I wanted to record both Reason and MPC in cubase. Below is how my setup is like.
Equipments I have:
Behringer 12 channel mixer.
MPC 1000
Korg Midi controller
MXL condensor mic
E-Mu 0404 soundcard with midi I/O
My setup:
Audio connection:
MPC L/R output connected to the Mixer's L/R input .
Mic connected to the Mixer's MIC input.
The Mixer's master output is connected to PC's(E-Mu 0404 soundcard) input.
The PC's(E-mu 0404 soundcard) OUTPUT is connected to the Monitor's Input.
(If you have a reciever, the output connected to the reciever's input and the output from the reciever goes into the speaker's input.)
Midi connection:
I have my MPC midi IN connected to the PC's midi OUT.
I have my MPC midi OUT connected to PC's midi In.
I have my Midi controller's midi OUT connected to the MPC's midi IN.
MPC Midi setup:
Press "mode" > pad 9(Midi/Sync).
Active track receive channel is set to "ALL"
Soft thru is set to "AS TRACK"
Press F2 (Sync)
Sync in is set to "1" - Sync out is set to "AB"
Reason Audio &Midi Set Up:
For Audio- Go to Edit > Preference> Audio >
Click on the Audio Card Driver and choose your soundcard (Mine is the E-Mu soundcard).
For MIDI SETUP - Click on the pulldown tab and choose ADVANCED MIDI.
For BUS A, I choose my PC's midi port. (or what ever midi interface you have)
now close preference.
On the Reason Hardware Interface, under channel, you can assign a device on each channel.
CUBASE MIDI SET UP:
Go to DEVICES> Device Setup> Click on Default midi port and choose your midi input.
to sync cubase with MPC go to TRANSPORT> Sync Setup... and make sure your midi I/O is checked and selected.
*TO REWIRE, MAKE SURE YOU OPEN CUBASE FIRST AND THEN OPEN UP REASON*
I think that pretty much covers how my set up is like. If there are any questions, feel free to PM me or Instant message me my sn is "ineffectz"
