You need a controller, or the 2nd best thing ya keyboard, route the midi cables midi in to midi out from the computer to the module, then midi out module to midi in of computer, I have a usb controller so I don't have to hook the midi cable to the controller if you have one and it doesn't have usb then you need to run the mid out to the midi in of the computer.....basically in fruity loops you need to enable midi sync and define your midi out channels and devices in the midi setup.......from there you create a midi channel just like a sampler or other channel....then you should be able to press the keys on the controller and see the midi in activity light up in the middle of the fruity loops control surface......there are surfaces also available, called a fruity skin I think.....
Also check out the Dashboard function, it enables you to tweak cq. automate any midi cc#'s on your asr-x. If you have the manual it should have the cc#'s in the midi implementation chart.
