i had started using the boobass in fl but was told from another producer that boobass is not where it's at and that i should be using real bass samples and forming patterns with those. so what's the deal, is boobass wack? i can make some decent basslines with it, a little filtering and eqing can make it sound pretty close to the real thing imo. does anyone use boobass for all of their basslines? what types of plug-ins and/or effects do you apply to get it not to sound too "synthesized"?

theres many ways to make basses. why use the same one for every track?
and who cares if someone tells you boobass is wack or whatever, if you like it, use it.
you can make a dope ass bass out of a single sine wave cycle sample using flststudio.
or just use 3osc and turn only one osc on and set the first to sine for a sine wave. thats ya bass right there.

also theres no magical sounds or plugins that make good basslines. you have to make them yourself, use differnet velocitys, slides, if you wanna make something sound like a real bassguitar figure out how that shit works (where the notes are how they are setup etc.) that will help you for realism. Finally, one of the most important factors is using your eq properly and learning how to use a compressor.

oh yes, and also if youre basslines are sounding wack, maybe you are trying to much right off the bat. just start off very very simple (just a single note, triggered on each bassdrum for example, then build it up to fit your ish.)

word up. i've been using a variety of bass samples and so far it's not too bad. i'm just trying to make it better though. i use boobass if i need longer notes since you can drag them to any length, but i looking through my beats i haven't used boobass alot. only on a couple of beats, the rest were made using various oneshots and such, maybe even a filtered bassline from another sample, etc.
