assigning session to new soundcard

have a session from a friend id like to edit.
now my cubase kept freezing when i tried to open it.
disabled my soundcard, session loads without any problems. but there doesnt seem to be
a possibility to assign the outs to my soundcard instead of his.

anyone smarter than me?
help appreciated

What version of cubase are you using? In ver 4 it askes you before the session loads if it cant find the interface from the previous session.
