another midi question

so i have a keybaord with sounds in it, if i get a midi to usb connector can the sounds be recorded from the keybaord via the midi port? If so, can I use cool edit pro to do this? And how does it work with fruity loops?

if you sync the keyboard to the program (cool edit or whatever) you can play back the sounds from the program you use, especially if it has a piano roll.....all that does is trigger the sound, now to record it you have to either have a program like sonar or cubase that way you can create another channel to route the audio in from the keyboard and record it....(thats is if you want to sync everything up)....to use it with fruity loops you create a midi in channel and then allocate a channel to each on you want to trigger from fruity loops piano roll....you might need to break out the manual to get all of the details....

they should change the D in midi to Data...then maybe tons of more people will understand it...
