^ my friend it didn't just involve Mr. Bush..

It goes back farther than that, sir. Don't think that people just started disliking the USA.

it's not only because of the politics...if you asked any political leader if they could be born in any other country, i bet you most of them would say the US.

living here is just too easy compared to the rest of the world. and the fact that we basically flaunt our freedom around by trying to "share" it with other countries just pisses people off

fuck that. Im glad I was born here. if you look at the most powerful countries in the world, 95 % of them are democracies. so why not "share". i know it wasnt just bush that fucked shit up as far as how the U.S looks to the rest of the world, but a lot of that is just haterism too. but the U.S has also done a lot of good too.

Yeah, highly doubtful.
Wishful thinking. The U.S. free? What's a Patriot Act?

Sharing and caring with bombs and threats isn't always as appreciated as you might think. The U.S. as a nation, (not individuals), has done a lot of good for whom, besides itself?

not to mention all the debt that the us forgave and the aid to foreign countries and so on. but of course they wouldnt put shit like that in the foreign news. only the bad stuff. when people around the world go looking for info on the US especially on the net they do searches for bad shit that goes on. haterism like i said.

I guess we never had the actual "American Values" thing in the gov, its just in we the people if you ever get to meet us have them..
Oh but wait then we have idiots that are fed lies their whole lives, and they have a centristic point of view on the universe..

For a nation that was just about as involved in vietnam as we were, you have some interesting opinions.

I'm still pissed about this one...

Agreed but Liberia came out of it, and they (after having come through a civil war which I think we should have helpeed but prolly better if we stay out knowing us) are some really awesome people over there.
Thats the only good thing I can say.

i feel u on what u said, im glad i was born on "this side of the earth" as well... and Bush didnt fuck up nothin that wasnt already fucked up, or about to be fucked up anyway... i dont have a prob with the US, im American as well... but what i DO have a prob with is the U.S. always stickin theyre noses where it shouldnt belong... noone dies but OUR children.

if u remember Micheal Moore's "Fahrenheit 911", Moore stood right across the street from the White House and asked each Senator, Congressman, whatever u wanna call em, if their kids were registered for the draft... only ONE person, the 1st person, replied... after that, each one of those fucks avoided him.

i can also recall Muhammad Ali refusing to go to war to fight for the Vietnamese, and we here in the States still had segregation at the time... talk about hypocrites... i didnt understand it then, bcuz segregation was over in the 70's... and of course it wasnt taught in school... but, thx to my parents and relatives, the library, and of course 80's Hip Hop, my vision aint blurry no more.

the western world don't really forgive debts. they practice unfair trade policies, actually criminal trade policies, bankrupt a country than herd them into imf and other shit that basically makes them give up economic sovereignty as well as political and social.

they, especially the states, sacrificed many countries and freedom movements based on what benefited them and the so-called cold war, which decimated africa, central and south america, and asia. i.e. the anc, like many, first asked for weapons and aid from the bastion of freedom the u.s. (and britain) and were turned down because some of the major leaders were socialist or too left leaning and to top it off refused to sanction, disinvest, or even call out south africa. the most notorious countries to commit assassination of freedom movements, u.s, britain, france, they were supposed to be better than the 'godless' commies...not so much.

hypocrisy and contradiction aren't well liked traits, it's in abundance in the western world, and often blatantly displayed by our governments, thinkin' people are jealous of 'freedom' is a nice fallacy, there are places more 'free', with better overall standards of living, not to be confused with being a richer nation. empty platitudes and the type of thievery with a condescending smile only nations can do, reeking of moral superiority that couldn't stand up to a real litmus test, don't endear those in any country, rich or poor, that actually pays attention.

of course multi national companies and psuedo multi's, increase the damage and thus increase the distrust of all western world countries. when a canadian company conspires with a dictator to eradicate a village to take and increase the land for diamonds, when an american company or a multi like coca-cola are illegally and/or ethically taking the water rights and the land it's on, when garbage is dumped or when early human testing is used in the so-called third world with no safeguards, etc, etc, the love isn't gonna flow.

the people in the west ask why the people in certain countries can allow so and so tyrant, rebel, terrorist, politician, etc, to do things that endanger them or us but in turn don't overstand why they wouldn't want to know why 'we' allow our governments to do effed up things in our name as well.

personally, i prefer to break all the windows in my glass house before i start breaking others, it allows me to see and hear a little more clearly so i don't miss

What you don't understand is I agree 100% with the above. I know and have known enough Americans to be aware that many of you are decent people. Also I would hope that you can understand that the sort of ignorance that lets people generalise about a whole population of a country is what I'm against, not what I'm espousing.

For a nation that was just about as involved in vietnam as we were, you have some interesting opinions.

I don't know why you get a bug in your arse every time I comment on anything but that's a pretty dopey comment to make. I was addressing the typically arrogant comments made about your country. I did not make similar comments about my own country.

Unfortunately Australia has been a willing contributor to many of the U.S.A.'s crimes against human decency. I am well aware of this and fully understand why some people similarly resent, yes even hate Australia because of it. I'm not going to defend what our moronic governments have done. I certainly wouldn't make ridiculous claims that all overseas politicians must wish they were born here. For anyone not to see how ludicrous a statement that is just sad.

^^ Because you always react this way , thats why I make dopey comments lol...

I like to imagine you spouting off in your aussy accent as you go off on me! lol

If your reactions were more "meh" I wouldnt get a kick out of it.

I was feelin pretty drunk when I made that post. Now get over here and help me attack this old lady!

Liberia...what the F' ever...I'd rather have my 40 acres and a mule right here in the USA...the land my ancestors developed...but if you wanna call Liberia a good thing...ga head cheif.

ha, I have yet to meet an uncool Liberian. Even when Im at the Library.

Actually the UK is a beacon of light to the world as a place to migrate to.
We have a generous government for immigrants as well as a National Health Service.
We might be just a small island but its popular for economic migrants.
Just on a smaller scale than the US.
A century of wars is one of the reasons the US is hated over the world.
Not to forget its unadulterated support of Israel.
The "american dream" fed to the world through hollywood is actually not hated around the world.
US multinational companies are liked around the world, like Coca Cola, Nike to name just 2.
Also the british education system is one of the most highly prized in the world.
Even Rhodes scholars go to Oxford and Cambridge universities.
World leaders all over the world give their kids a british education, and many even had a british education themselves.
I honestly feel blessed to have been born in the UK and to have enjoyed the fruits of supposed democracy, rather than being born in some third world country with a dictator.
I wouldnt want to change a thing.
I wouldnt mind visiting the US, but I dont know if Id want to stay for good.
I can see the appeal the US had to the rest of the world, the land of opportunity.
But its not the only land of opprtunity.
