layering drums to sound thicker...care to share???
the key is layering your kicks. you don`t have to use filters for this. just sample different types of kicks and blend them together. same with snares. but it really don`t do no good to go through all of that if you are not going to layer the rest of your sounds as well. it would sound kinda odd... -

you probably wouldn`t use it any way. i don`t know too many people that does. all it does is adjust the pitch of a sample but you can do that inside the programs menu. -

i beleive what you are experiencing is what is called a ground-loop problem. if you are using rca cables your signal will be unbalanced unless you use a transfer box to make it balanced. what i mean by that is, there is a box you can purchase (made by Ebtech $60-$80) that will allow you to run... -

you can get a midisport 2x2 usb hook up for your pc for about $40-$60. it has a through button on it so you can turn your pc off and still record even with the cables hooked up. i do this all the time. -

Drum Tweaking Techniques
i read an article on Premier a while back and Premier stated that he layer his kicks with 6 or 7 different kicks to make them stand out. and his favorite sampler is the mpc60. but he do sample with the sp1200 and mpc3000.. -
headphone monitor mix
don`t matter, you will still get the same results. try to stay away from headphones when mixing. you will not be getting a true mix through headphones. you will do better mixing on a home stereo if you don`t have studio monitors. mixing + headphones = baaaaaaaaaaad!!! -
midi Y cable
get 2 midi cables and run 1 from your keyboard to the mpc, then run the other from the mpc to your pc. it will work that way. -

i never use headphones to mix only to edit. headphones add colour as well. if you have an amp, stereo with stereo speakers or an amp with bass treble control. set your bass treble mid-way that should give you a somewhat flat sound. then run your sound through and mix a way. -

help: soundforge & MPC drum problems!!!
like formant said most likely its your sample rate. why don`t you just sample the kick straight in to the mpc instead of saving it to disk in soundforge then loading it into the mpc? -
asr-10 question
you have to get the samples across the pads. the samples will be chromatic form. then you can make a chord on the pads. i use to play chords on my asr x when i had it. sold it a while ago. check with Merc on this. -
