formant... for once i think i am gonna totally take your side on something... this is very true about the hip-hop engineering and all other types of engineering... you can totally get away with allot less to do hip-hop... i mean, most of the music has already been recorded using other equipment... -

i don't know how many times we got to see this same topic come up over and over again... try some stuff out... do your research... and get what you feel would be good for you... if it isn't right for you... go and try something else... just get writin -
PC laptop for audio production
a mac would be your best way to go... but if you are going with the pc laptop... go for a toshiba with a P4 in it... also, try to get one with firewire as said before... the firewire interfaces go allot further than what a usb one can do... also... those indigo cards are pretty dope... sound... -

the audio media III card can be used with protools because it is also made by Digidesign... Protools LE will work with: Digi001, Digi002, Digi002Rack, Mbox, and Audio Media III... as far as the midi in protools, i used to use Digital Performer for all my midi programing and then import the... -

Battery 2!
i hope battery 2 sounds better than battery... battery makes the drum samples sound like shit... you should give MachFive a try for a software sampler for using drums... sounds a hell of allot better... good luck to NI on battery 2 -

basically... like how all the other software out there has keys and dongles to make their software work on your computer... that is what the protools hardware does for protools... there is a encoded chip in the hardware that lets you open up protools... you have to have the hardware... life... -
