    Battle That! Competition - September 10-13, 2025

@Earsblower - you’ve got a great ear if you’re just experimenting and piecing together sounds/splices. Whatever process you have going, is definitely working for you. As for my music theory, it’s just academic semantics…you’d don’t need to know labels or exact terminology to make dope music.

    Battle That! Competition - September 10-13, 2025

I’ve said it before; Everybody took the time to listen to my beat and pondered on it enough to place a vote. That to me earns some feedback. Additionally, everybody put effort into their battle beats, especially the case for Battle That. That too deserves commentary. On top of all that, I can...

Hahaha yeah! Hence why it took me over a week to do. Booze and drugs also help hahaha

    Battle That! Competition - September 10-13, 2025

Anytime! I’ve been slow with my feedback lately, but you know I always try to respect Battlers by giving some props. To me, an “Iron Beat” can be summed up to - fundamentals, modernes, and poignancy. You have an ability to tap into “classic” sounds or tropes, while making them sound fresh...

    Battle That! Competition - September 10-13, 2025

Round 4: @TWU - that jittery/staccato bass line that feeds directly into a sustain then slide is a masterful use of articulation. I usually come up with my bass lines by jamming live over my beat...not because I'm a good musician, but because articulations are hard to anticipate or program. I...

    Battle That! Competition - September 10-13, 2025

Round 3: @TWU - ruff, rugged, and raw...but still kinda chill and introspective? This gives me early Def Jux vibes. Abstract, nu-school, but you can still hear the heart of NYC boom-bap in there. This beat has lots of character...but I think the mix takes aways from it...just a bit. While I...

    Battle That! Competition - September 10-13, 2025

Round 2: @TWU - There's clean, then there's medical, research laboratory clean. Sonically, this is perfect. The drums have just enough thump, but don't take away from the smooth and lyrical nature of the beat. I really like that the sample chops have this great balance of sounding "choppy" but...

    Battle That! Competition - September 10-13, 2025

Round 1: @Kane the MOD - I really like the dark and eerie vibe you established early on with this beat. The reversed (or manipulated sounds) have a great texture. The plucks, stringed instrument, chimes/bells work to develop this creeping, plodding and stalking vibe that is very cool. It has...

    Beat Fight #403

Thanks @Iron Keys I was going for a Neptunes, late 2000s type vibe for this. This was made mostly on the MPC 1000. I loaded up sounds in Kontakt and played them in live to the MPC1000 and chopped them up from there. Final arrangement and mix was done in Logic.

Jennie Pearl - Maybe In Another Year

@DJ Excellence - this is an absolutely phenomenal flip! Then the quick subtle switch around 0:58, I love everything about this. Mix sounds nice, drums have a great groove. Transitions are seamless. No comments, really well executed. @thekoolkrush - Love that you kept this mellow to start. Then...

    Beat Fight #399

I almost exclusively use drums from the Apple loops library. There are great melodic loops, but I struggle to find ways to incorporate them. Often I'll just chop up several different loops in the Q-Sampler or just use them as place-holders before going back and recreating them.

Enrico Pieranunzi & Silvano Chimenti - "Leyla Theme"

Originally had this set for Round 3 of battle that. Unfortunately I didn't get past Round 2, so I used it in my Beat Fight with @M.I.ndless This was a fun one to make. Lots of little chops pitched and layered on top of each other. Programmed some original organ, piano, and bass for good...

Enrico Pieranunzi & Silvano Chimenti - "Leyla Theme"

@2GooD Productions - super dope flip! Giving some Lupe Fiasco vibes. Drums on this got a great groove. Then the vocals come in and really shift the overall vibe. That big lift at 0:52 was a great choice. Adds a ton of energy. I like how you brought right back down after too. This feels classic...

    Beat Fight #403

@P.A.T. - loving the delayed piano/plucky synth. Drums go hard on this too. Good luck!

Good battle @TWU I feel like this one could’ve easily gone either way.
