What Happened To Being A Specialist?

I strongly think that Artists should not do everything themselves. I mean if you have no budget, then do everything yourself and get your music out. But to actually do this for real you need a team of people that I better then you at certain things. For example I will ALWAYS use a top end...

Always, I mean ALWAYS WITHOUT FAIL. Backup your work.

Man 1tb ssd’s are only $100 these days. I like crucial but they are all pretty similar. I can actually clone the Mac drive to a new drive and not have to reinstall anything.

I can literally lose a whole computer and have everything back up and resyned in about a day. Thats not bad. I am going to have about 15k in to my next record so...

Mixing is an art in itself, it will take a while to learn how to do a decent mix. Read the book Zen and the Art of Mixing and then check out Joes "Home Studio Corner" after years I feel I can do a decent mix, but I will pay lots of money to a good Mastering Engineer to finalize the whole thing...

    Creative Block

I wrote this a while ago but I think it applies #1 Take a break from the typical genres you enjoy. If you only listen to hip-hop check out metal, if you only like fiction get some non-fiction, if you look at surrealistic paintings….well you get the idea. Spend some time with these new genres...

    I needed a mental health beat-break

"Andrew O'Neill once told me something about our mutual hero Henry Rollins. Henry, he said, takes an inhale year (reading, learning, traveling, absorbing) and then an exhale year (touring, working, speaking, art-assaulting). " This quote helps me a lot in the downtime.
