Who puts hooks on their beats?
I definitely put hooks on every one of my beats also(16-8)even if it means adding another instrument sound such as a hi hat or whatnot...anything to give the track momentum when the m.c. starts to sing the chorus part of the song. Then after 8 bars of chorus I might drop out an instrument when... -
Simple/Dre Style drums
I think its all about fucking with the "decay" and "sustain" controls along with the "delay" and "attack" controls. But first and foremost you have to have the tempo right and that depends on how your sample feels. But if you are not sampling the tempo plays a big part in the feel of the track. -
