Congrats Hip Hop! Lil Wayne is no longer a rapper...
Lil Wayne is just out for the checks...a lot of his music is not Hip Hop...it's mainly pop and rap with a rock/techno feel to it. If cats is striving for his level of success you cant be making hip hop that booms and bap like most of us at this site do it... But I'm one of them old school heads... -

People like what they like...and I don't like him or his music. you can call it hating or whatever but I wasn't born to like everything. The thing about this guy is that you know he's a gimmick...something created by the establishment. He looks dirty...like he needs a bath or some shit. -

Thanks Fam...all is well. I was working an Earth Day festival when that joint hit. We had to evacuate museum guest to the basement. Shaw U got smashed up. Sanford got hit hard also but my peeps is str8. Thanks for the love Cuzo because it was a wild ordeal. Weathers beautiful now though.- skidflow

I think its because most of the rappers now dont really connect with the streets...I mean you got words like "fail"...its slang...but it means just that in the Websters Dictionary. What do you focus on when making drums?
I focus on the tone and velocity then I'll just arrange sample chops/compositions around my drums (or vice versa). Then I might filter my drums and add parametric EQ to get the right "feel". At the end I'll compress the drums just to get them to "sit" right in the mix.
