i´d get the xl just because the display is not sunk into it. after a while i found that to be really horrible. that´s actually what i hate about the rs7k -

you should also try to look for sample cds with those sounds. much cheaper and easier to handle. i personally have bought sample cds with the sounds of certain soundmodule´s and loaded them into my sampler. i´m still doing that, but now with vsampler. you won´t have much equipment to impress... -

midisport 2x2 usb - around 70 or even better oxygen 8 (130 bucks) with integrated midi out. that´s the way i do it and it works fine -

if you want a triton you won´t be able to sequence it through reason, because it has no midi output option. might want to get cubase too (if cubasis supports rewire this will also do it (only 99 $)but i´d seriously leave out the triton until you have been around for a while ... -
