Anyone here use the vienna symphonic library?

I'm using a 1.8 GHz P4 laptop. It runs FLStudio, Edirol, and a massive soundfont smoothly, but I have to turn the buffer up to 200 ms. The main problem is my 20GB hard drive--you can imagine how fast it fills up. Take it easy.

Anyone here use the vienna symphonic library?

I would like to use this program, but I'm not familiar with gigasampler or halion. Can it be implemented as a vst or dx instrument? It also seems like an enormously massive samplebank--is it so big that i'll need a new computer? I'm using Edirol orchestral now, which sounds okay; would VSL be...

    Voice Tags: waste of time?

I've noticed that almost everyone here uses voice tags on their beats to "protect" them. My question is: what do you "voice taggers" expect from your tags? Is it the new "poor man's copyright?" Personally, I don't use them, because I think they: 1. Detract from the music in a seriously...

Too Many People In The U.s,and Possibly The World

At first, I thought this was an astute observation; however, it soon became clear to me that your theory is among the most disturbing ideas I have ever heard. This analogy of yours draws a parallel between humans (living, breathing, spiritual, and sentient beings) and toxic chemicals that have...

    Help A Fellow Producer!!!

Its kind of poetic. This man is completely destitute, but his desire to create music has consumed him. Someone should give him an outlet--but don't help too much--adversity may be his driving force. I admire you--even envy you. I have plenty of money and a roof over my head; however, I don't...

    Headphone Mixing

I've never had the $$ for real monitors. I used to mix on radio shack head phones, and couldn't figure out why my mixes were always so scooped out in the midrange. It was because of the frequency response curve of the cans I had on my head. Now I mix with high end Sonys and everything...

    Kanye's protege: Bump J

I don't see what the buzz is all about. He sounds just like everyone else to me--maybe even below average. The verses are okay, but the chorus is positively idiotic. On the plus side, the beat is nice (except I can't stand those pitch shifted vocals). Just my $0.02

Chappelle claims, "I'm not crazy, I'm not smoking crack,"

I don't know about you, but any time you have to come right out and say, "I'm not crazy, I'm not smoking crack," you DEFINITELY have a problem. Read about it on CNN

    Are Your Standards Too High?

I agree with this. Its funny, but the tracks that I'm completely fired up about tend to fall on deaf ears. On the other hand, I might play some stupid corny beat that took 5 minutes to make, and MCs fall all over themselves to "flow on it." Heh, its seriously frustrating--but it happens every...

    anybody Graduating ???

I'll be starting grade "19" in a month. But the worst part is, I still have another 7 years to go before I'll be completely done. Holy crap. I must be an idiot.

Does making beats lessen your pure enjoyment...

I dont' know if any of you can identify with this, but the music that was wrecked for me was church music. I grew up playing bass and guitar in church, and the naked ambition toward emotional manipulation completely prevented me from ever "believing" the music in church. Its like what was once...

    Top Hip Hop Drum Kit?

I just discovered this the other day, and my heart is still racing. http://www.naturalstudio.co.uk/ns_kit.html It's a free soundfont (also available as .wav) that provides some of the best results I've ever heard. Its a simple drumkit, but there are about 20 velocity layers for each...

    Dave Chappelle Productions Stops

Can't you just picture him now? With white lips and ashy skin? I always suspected he did the crack-head act a little *too* well. Hehe
