@2GooD Productions - looks like we're both on a 70s kick!

The vocals at the beginning are both sweet and haunting. I like that they're tucked to the back a bit - working as both a melodic and textural element. The guitar leading into the bass is a dope move, sounds like one line but the change in timbres adds that EXTRA bit of interest. That drone, sounds like a distorted clav of some sort (which I've noticed you use quite a bit in your beats) is a simple and effective way to add texture and enhance the harmonic value of the track. Proof that you don't always need to use massive, complex, chord extensions. I really like that lift at 1:55, the strings and some extra depth and emotion. Oh shit!!! Another guitar/bass line? Deft fucking touch man. I had to skip back to make sure I wasn't tripping. Dope track man!

Used a sample on this one, the guitar leading into the bass and the drone are all in the sample. But yeah I do use EP's a lot for extra texture, often under a bassline to add some grit or low mid bass. Or as an aid to progression for the second half of a verse leading into a chorus. And yeah I used serum 2 to add the stabby bass that follows the kicks a bit. As well as another bassline that sits in the background under the bass thats in the sample as some extra texture. Also decided to start using some of the kits in Groove Agent, as I paid for the full thing and never fucking use them. Expect more fills and drums that sound real from me, still figuring out how to get the best out of it and exploring its full functionality which I really should have done a couple years back when I paid for it. Going to be making some stuff that isnt hip hop at all and more of a soundtrack vibe for the album. Might even listen to your battle beat a few more times for ideas and inspiration, to try and nail that 70's sound myself.

The drum bounce is dope. Then on top you created melodic layer after layer and it blends perfectly. I think implementing a sample gave it a more interesting texture. This is really good stuff.

Man, I hope you can soon make a living with music. You deserve it.

I feel the sample has some unwanted resonance on the highs, or even sounds like it may have been a YouTube mp3 or something (hear some of that digital not so nice sounding distortion on the high end). Maybe some EQ or another filter but might be personal preference too. But I like the rhythm and chill drums vibe, solid modern boom bap beat.

I flipped the same sample 7x different ways:

feel free to skim through, will return feedback!

i forgot to mention your srtwork that's amazing. The move from rock(nu metal to soul is fucking good and found me even more pleased. You keep your gritty style and forefront drums so it fits with your series. this is undoubtely my fav of yours. Maybe it is better even technically, not sure. Probably rock samples are more hard to treat, anyway I love what I'm hearing. The repetition are very smart and pleasing. The triplest of congs (if they are really triplets and congas), brilliant. I'd like to come with some smart advice, well, I don't have any. (you say same sample. what song?)

My intention was to create a hard hitting beat for a beat fight. It came out completely different:

Ao you’re in on it too. Where does that bass come from? Beautiful, it's also slightly behind the beat and gives that sense of restraint which is perfect for a poignant piece. Now, people, please load something at least average because otherwise, I feel like I'm here kissing asses, and instead, I’d like to break the balls a bit with some petty observations. Great beat, Kane.

Thanks!!! I actually made this about 20 years ago when I was using whatever I could either make or find with $h!tty equipment at the time.... I can definitely hear what you are referring to, but this was as clean as I could get it at the time... Wish I still had all of the sample arrangements for this one!
