So this dickhead is saying AI beatmaking is going to take over and we're all going to be a bunch of losers still hanging onto the past:

What annoys me too is not only this company, Suno, but other AI companies using copyrighted materials to train their AI and saying "it's for educational purposes". Whereas if we sample someone else's copyrighted music we could get fined and/or dragged out back and shot.

My biggest beef with AI is that people see it as an end in itself.

Literally no one wants "AI" - they want better stem separation, key detection, lyrics transcription, all the stuff that AI might be able to help with.

It's blockchain hype all over again.

Exactly. I want AI to just help with some stuff, not take over everything, which we all know will only lead to more online garbage.

The thing with AI, is it doesn't have emotion.

The key thing about music, at least great music, music that leaves a lasting impression on its audience, is its ability to connect with the listener and vice versa.

That is the intangible 'magic' element, that most people miss when making a record, and so less so even ai.

It requires a great level of 'feel', and I don't think ai would likely have that.

Fyi... Timbaland has just been pushing Suno via his social media platforms.

He also has been pushing "type beats" and wants to be "the amazon of music"
What!? I guess they're paying him a ridiculous amount of money to promote Suno.

"the amazon of music" sounds horrifying. Just imagine:

THIS SUNDAY, SUNDAY, SUNDAY...... GET YOUR TYPE BEATS FOR THE LOW LOW PRICE OF FREE WITH EVERY PURCHASE OF A 50-PACK OF OTHER TYPE BEATS!
REMEMBER, THIS SUNDAY SUNDAY SUNDAY....

Well AI probably will take over music and video at some point. I had my doubts but AI makes pretty good images now, especially ChatGPT. It used to like not even be able to spell correctly. Now it makes pretty good images.

That being said the axe may come for music.

I sell ai art, and like people buy it. But artists hate it. Like I get criticized for posting it. But at the end of the day people buy it and it's cheaper to make and sell. & I really need to make money.

I'm a music producer, and while AI lacks emotion which I think helps, it can probably overcome that by being so technically sound.

Also the majority of musicians aren't great or are just starting off, so AI should be able to produce better results on average.

This is a sad subject but thank goodness music for me is more of a hobby and at the same time we'll always make money anyways just by knowing about it.

Good luck guys and gals
